I agree with the statement given by Gilbert Amelio. Good communication skill is a necessary attribute that a leader should have. A leader should have the ability to motivate and empower their team to accomplish their shared objectives. Good communication skills are important as they help leaders clearly define goals for their team members. A clearly defined message, information, or instruction will further motivate team members and increase their productivity and efficiency.
Leaders with poor communication skills can affect the team negatively. Amelio says, " If a leader can't get a message across clearly and motivate others to act on it, then having a message doesn't even matter.". This is especially true because, if a leader is unable to convey a message effectively, their team will not be fully engaged thus reducing their sense of motivation, urgency, and productivity. This shows the leader's incapability in getting his messages across.
Team members rely on their leaders to offer guidance and motivation for the team to perform effectively. With good communication skills from the leader, the team will have a clearer sense of direction to perform in the workplace. Thus, it is essential and critical that a leader should develop good communication skills for effective leadership.
The general format/ order of the information presented is good. There is a clear flow of the different topics mentioned, but this tasked required the interpretation of the reader which i felt was absent here or at least not specifically stated or implied. Good content in the sense that you are able to capture the entire meaning of the quote but lacking a little in the interpretation.
