Critical Reflection

Module learning: As the trimester comes to a close, I am confident to say that I have achieved the 2 goals that I set for myself at the beginning of this module. Through the various assignments and activities, I have grown to be a better writer and communicator. My first goal is to become a more confident person in terms of communicating with my peers. Throughout this trimester, I was given a lot of opportunities to work on my communication skills. Through class discussions and project meetings, I have learned to express myself more clearly and confidently. I have also gained a deeper understanding of the importance of effective communication that can be useful in the real world. These opportunities have helped me understand the importance of effective communication, and I am eager to continue developing my skills in this area. Typical drain cleaning and maintenance

The Public Utilities Board (PUB) manages Singapore’s water supply and drainage systems, including the maintenance of drainage systems to prevent water ponding and flooding (Public utility Board, 2023b). PUB conducts regular inspections to detect any clogging or damage to the system and performs structural repairs and maintenance as needed (Public Utility Board, n.d). The Department of Public Cleanliness (DPC) conducts regular drain cleaning (Kiasu Plumber, 2020). Equipment such as special nozzles, combination tankers, and high-pressure jetting equipment is used for this process (Lian Shing, n.d.). This cleaning process helps to remove debris and waste that may be blocking the drain flow. On top of that, collection devices such as float booms and litter traps are also placed strategically along the drains(Kiasu Plumber, 2020). This proactive approach to maintenance and cleaning helps to prevent water ponding and flooding, while also protecting public health in Singapore.
